One of the best ways to see the spectacular sunset at Cable Beach is from the back of a camel! Breaking en route for morning tea (at own expense) arrive at Fitzroy Crossing and head out to Geikie Gorge for a picnic lunch. The 2-hour Aboriginal Darngku Heritage Cruise is hosted by local Bunuba Aboriginal Cultural guides who provide a fascinating insight into Aboriginal culture, Dreamtime stories, bush tucker, animal tracks, traditional plant use and cultural practices. Alternatively take a 1-hour cruise with Calm National Park Authority available from May to October, but required a one-hour waiting time prior to boarding.

On both tours you see geological sea fossils, crocodiles, exotic birds and other native animals. On our journey back to Broome we break for dinner (at own expense) and arrive in Broome at approximately 10:30pm.

Spend two days discovering the remote Kimberley in Western Australia on this 4WD tour from Broome.

This 4WD adventure will see you explore spectacular gorges and spot wild crocodiles as you learn of the ancient Aboriginal culture that is so rich in this region. See the famous Windjana Gorge and Geikie Gorge and overnight in safari tents.

Day 1: Broome to Fitzroy Crossing (L, D)

This morning set off on your journey heading north to Willare Bridge, we cross the mighty Fitzroy River, before arriving at Fitzroy Crossing. Travel out to Geikie Gorge to enjoy a picnic lunch before joining the National Park Ranger for a fascinating cruise through Geikie Gorge down the Fitzroy River, spot geological sea fossils, crocodiles, exotic birds and other native animals.

At Geikie Gorge you also have the option to take a longer 2 hour Darngku Heritage Cruise hosted by local Bunuba Aboriginal Cultural guides, who provide a fascinating insight into Aboriginal culture, Dreamtime stories, bush tucker, animal tracks, traditional plant use and cultural practices (additional expense, upgrade available while on tour). From here it’s only a short drive to the Fitzroy River Lodge for our overnight stay. Tonight enjoy a campfire barbecue dinner.

Day 2: Fitzroy Crossing to Broome (B, L)

After breakfast this adventure takes you along the famous “Gibb River Road”, once used as the main stock route for the region, stop at Tunnel Creek, an amazing 750 meter long flooded tube tunnel. Take an exciting walk through the tunnel wading through knee to thigh high water in some sections and hear the story of Jandamarra.

After a short drive, stop at Windjana Gorge, regarded as one of the classic features of world geology and a great freshwater crocodile spotting site. Enjoy a picnic lunch before the journey back to Broome, via the historic town of Derby, home of Australia’s largest tides. Stop for afternoon tea at one of the Kimberley’s most famous landmarks the Prison Boab Tree, once used to hold convicts. Here you will also view Myalls Bore, a 120 meter long trough built in the early 1900′s used to water up to 1,000 head of cattle at one time, before arriving back into Broome at approximately 7.00pm.

Get a taste of the remote Kimberley region on this 4WD adventure from Broome.

See the Prison Boab Tree, once used to house convicts. Travel along the famous Gibb River Road, once a stock route, to Windjana Gorge and its spectacular landforms. Get your shoes wet as you walk through Tunnel Creek, a flooded tube tunnel. You are sure to agree that Mother Nature was remarkable when she created the Kimberley.

Important: Accessing Tunnel Creek walk involves 20 meters of clambering over boulders and 700 meters of wading through knee to thigh high water (shorts are ideal). Strap on sandals or old sand shoes must be worn through the water to protect from the rocky creek bed. To safely navigate the Tunnel you must be able to walk and balance yourself on uneven ground. Flashlights are provided.

The Bungle Bungles are famous for their beehive shaped sandstone mounds which were only discovered as recently as the 1980′s. Come see these unusual rock formations for yourself on this 2-day adventure from Kununurra.

This overnight tour to the Bungle Bungles is designed for the active traveler short of time allowing you to see as much as of the Bungles as possible. Travel from Kununurra to find yourself in Purnululu National Park where you will gaze up at the massive beehive-shaped sandstone rock formations before you.
