One of the best ways to see the spectacular sunset at Cable Beach is from the back of a camel! This afternoon tour of Broome gives you an insight into Broome’s pearl industry history, a tour through Chinatown and Gantheaume Point, before climbing aboard your camel for a ride along the sands whilst watching the sun go down. This is definitely one of Broome’s highlights!

At Town Beach, learn of Broome’s One Day War then stop at Matso’s Broome Brewery to taste their hand made ales and famous ginger beer or visit one of the local art and craft galleries nearby.

Then visit the Japanese Cemetery and Broome Port before arriving at Gantheaume Point, known for dinosaur footprints and Anastasias Pool. Then it’s down to Cable Beach, where you have the option to join a sunset camel ride (BSCR), or enjoy light refreshments and nibbles as you watch the sunset (BS).

Get a taste of the remote Kimberley region on this 4WD adventure from Broome.

See the Prison Boab Tree, once used to house convicts. Travel along the famous Gibb River Road, once a stock route, to Windjana Gorge and its spectacular landforms. Get your shoes wet as you walk through Tunnel Creek, a flooded tube tunnel. You are sure to agree that Mother Nature was remarkable when she created the Kimberley.

Set off on your journey heading north to Willare Bridge, cross the mighty Fitzroy River and make a morning tea break at one of the Kimberley’s most famous landmarks the Prison Blab Tree, once used to house convicts. Whilst here we also view Malls Bore; a 120 meter long trough built in the early 1900′s used to water up to 1,000 head of cattle at one time. You will leave the coast and travel inland along the famous Gibb River Road, once used as the main stock route for the region, before turning off to the pre-historic Windjana Gorge, regarded as one of the classic features of world geology and a great freshwater crocodile spotting site.

From here head to Tunnel Creek, an amazing 750 meter long flooded tube tunnel. Take an exciting walk through the tunnel wading through knee to thigh high water and hear the story of Jandamarra. Following afternoon tea, set off back to Broome with arrival approximately 10:30 pm after an en route dinner stop (own expense).

Important: Accessing Tunnel Creek walk involves 20 meters of clambering over boulders and 700 meters of wading through knee to thigh high water (shorts are ideal). Strap on sandals or old sand shoes must be worn through the water to protect from the rocky creek bed. To safely navigate the Tunnel you must be able to walk and balance yourself on uneven ground. Flashlights are provided.

Duration

15 hours

Departure Point

Broome, Western Australia
